Brazilian carnival in Wythenshaw

Feathers, sequins and samba will provide a flavour of Brazil to the streets of Wythenshawe this week.

Bakery staff at Poundbakery, Wythenshawe are adding a sprinkle of World Cup fever to their summer snack menu, with carnival music and energetic bejewelled dancers, as well as a half price pie or pasty for every customer; making sure that football fans are fuelled up and ready to cheer on England. 

Store manager Anthony Coburn said: “World Cup fever has really taken off here in Wythenshawe. The Carnival is bringing a fresh and vibrant taste of Brazil, right to our doorstep. 

"It’s been great to see people cheering on the team in their England strips. We want to make sure that the footie fans are well fed to cheer on the lads - Let's pound'em England!”

Customers wearing the England strip on match days across all UK Poundbakery stores will be treated to a half-price pasty or pie with any purchase.
